What's NewWelcome to the 2009-2010 version of the BU MBA Consulting Association, often referred to as BUMBACA! WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW Consulting companies do their internship and full-time recruiting in the FALL, not the winter or spring (like most all other companies). Therefore, we're going to do our best to get in some helpful events (Resume review, Case Interview Prep) in the first few weeks of school to prepare you for the interview process. Also, if you're at all interested in consulting, I urge you to take a look at the Consulting Portfolio. It's a great way to network with the connected professors as well as meet consulting alumni from BU. HOW YOU CAN GET PREPARED FOR CONSULTING First, check out the "Resources" page for some great background info on consulting work, lifestyle, and what to expect in the industry. Then, please introduce yourself to one of our officers. Chances are, if we can't answer your questions, we know someone who can. Next, introduce yourself to our advisor, Prof Mottur. He's a wealth of information and has worked in consulting for over 35 years. We're also fortunate to be working with Prof Molaner on a few events. He's been a great help to our students in their pursuit of consulting careers. In addition to Profs Mottur and Molander, each of the officers have a major interest in consulting, and most of us have worked in the industry already. Please check out the bios, one of us may have already worked at your target company. If not, let us know who'd you'd like to speak with and we'll do our best to find you someone to speak with. OUR PHILOSOPHY It's pretty simple. We do not want to host a lot of events, but a few, very well put-together events that are meaningful and helpful for your careers. We think these events are typically small group networking with local consultants, making office visits, and learning more about which firm might be of interest to you by speaking to their employees. You see the theme here - NETWORKING. We won't just ask you to go "network," we'll teach you how to do it. It's a very loose term, but there are some hard and fast rules to being a good networker. Again, if you have any questions, be sure to ask any one of the officers check out the "Resources" page for additional info. We look forward to helping you launch a career in consulting! | Announcements
